Mississippi's Meridian Union Station was always busy around mid-day as two northbound Southern Railway trains passed through within an hour. Local no. 44 (right) arrived first and left last, while the speedier Southerner, no. 48, stayed only fifteen minutes (this allowed the E8 locomotive to get water for its steam generator). September 16, 1952.
