New highway bridge constructed in 1957 provided excellent views of Meridian's 22nd Avenue and opened up grand vistas of railroad passenger activity in the mid-town area. Here a Birmingham-bound Southern Railway train leaves the yard just as Mobile-bound Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad Gulf Coast Rebel pulls away from the station in August 1957.
